The Board of Trustees Leadership Scholarships were established by the BGSU Board of Trustees in conjunction with the creation of the President’s Leadership Academy and in support of one of the university’s ongoing priorities, which is to promote a culture of leadership at BGSU.

A $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to a full-time (minimum of 12 semester hours) rising sophomore, junior, or senior (who has a minimum of two semesters of study to complete before graduation) with a minimum accumulative grade point average of 2.75. Another $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time graduate student who has completed at least one semester of credit and has at least one year left of graduate study. Applicants should also exhibit leadership potential.

Completed application packet which includes: application, supporting materials, official transcripts or your last grading report from MyBGSU which lists your GPA and two letters of recommendation (at least one from a faculty member) must be submitted no later than February 22, 2008 and mailed to: Board of Trustees Leadership Scholarship, c/o Executive Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Bowling Green State University, 225 McFall Center, Bowling Green, OH 43403.

On a separate sheet, list current and past activities outside of formal classes that you believe demonstrate your leadership abilities and potential on a separate sheet.

ESSAY
Submit a formal, typewritten essay 250-350 words, discussing your leadership philosophy, what it means to be a leader, and how you intend to contribute to the culture of leadership at BGSU, and, generally, in society. This is a critical component of the review process.

LETTERS OF REFERENCE
Please give the two forms below to individuals (non-relatives) who have known you for a period of time and can attest to/document your leadership potential. At least one letter should be from a faculty member. Letters must be received by the application deadline of February 22, 2008. It is the applicant's responsibility to insure the submission of the letters of reference by the deadline.
